What do we believe?

Like most Christians, we affirm that Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God and offers humanity salvation through grace.
These are beliefs and pracitices usually associated with Disciples:

• Open Table: The Lord’s Supper, also called Communion, is celebrated as part of the worship service.
• Freedom of belief: The Disciples are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Persons are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit and prayer.
• Baptism by Immersion: In baptism the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God begins.Unity of the Church: God calls all Christians to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities to testify and serve together.
• The ministry of Believers: Both the lay leaders and the ministerial body can lead worship services, serve and grow spiritually.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was founded in the early nineteenth century in the United States. Trying to overcome denominational disagreements, our founders allowed themselves to be guided by the vision of a united Church of Jesus Christ, following the model featured on the New Testament.

Today we have close to 3,800 congregations.
