CCC Gables is a multilingual church. The Hispanic Ministry seeks to spread our passion for Jesus to Spanish-speakers and their families.

In the 1950s, it’s estimated that more than 80 percent of Miami-Dade County residents were non-Hispanic whites. But in 2006, the Census Bureau estimates that number was only 18.5 percent, and in 2015 it is forecast to be 14 percent. Hispanics now make up about 60 percent.

According to the Census, 58.5 percent of the county’s 2.4 million residents speak Spanish — and half of those say they don’t speak English well. English-only speakers make up 27.2 percent of the county’s residents.

Representing more than 16 nationalities, Spanish Ministries in CC Gables is driven by an enthusiasm and vision for evangelism, and God is using our members to reach the community for His glory.

Our members provide a variety of weekly ministry opportunities, from home Bible studies and local evangelism to jail and hospital outreach ministries.

We also have Spanish Sunday School classes, women’s, men’s, children’s and youth ministries and several annual outreach events.

A connection group is a small gathering of 10-20 people connecting and growing together. At CCC Gables we want to help you Find Your Place, Develop Your Faith, and Live Your Potential.

Connection groups are strategically designed to do just that. We know that there is no better way for you to find a community you belong to, grow in your relationship with God, and discover your potential than through Christian friendships.

Find Your Place Groups

Groups are formed by geographical area, gender, age or life issues such a celebrate recovery. Theory are designed to help people connect with God and the community through common interest.

If you’re checking out CCC Gables for the first time, you can expect a place to grow in the life that you’ve been created to have. That’s really what we’re all about.

On the weekend we enjoy energetic and passionate music as well as down to earth teaching from the Word of God. During the week there are many opportunities for everyone to get connected to continually grow in our relationship with Jesus.

When you arrive at at CCC Gables, you can expect a friendly atmosphere. Our ushers will greet you at the door, and provide you with a program of our worship service. Our worship service begins with a time of lively praise.

The messages are centered on the Bible, with emphasis on real-life application and transformation through living out the Word of God.

A reflection and invitation time follows to allow us to identify how we can concretely apply the message into our everyday lives.

Through prayer, worship, and hearing and responding to the Word of God, we hope that our Sunday service would be a life-transforming experience for all who participate.

You can stick around after our Sunday service for refreshments. It is a great opportunity to meet others at CCC Gables.

Throughout the week, we have prayer meetings and various connection groups that you can plug into depending on your background and interest.

The study of more than 4,700 people who were followed over 20 years found that people who are happy or become happy boost the chances that someone they know will be happy. The power of happiness, moreover, can span another degree of separation, elevating the mood of that person’s husband, wife, brother, sister, friend or next-door neighbor.

“You would think that your emotional state would depend on your own choices and actions and experience,” said Nicholas A. Christakis, a medical sociologist at Harvard University who helped conduct the study published online today by BMJ, a British medical journal. “But it also depends on the choices and actions and experiences of other people, including people to whom you are not directly connected. Happiness is contagious.”

Psalm 68:6 states, “God sets the lonely in families.” Maybe, just maybe this is to rid the lonely of their loneliness and help them to catch happiness.

Jorge Cotto understands the importance of having a Barnabas in ministry.

When he was called to minister Central Christian Church in Coral Gables, Fla., he said that he didn’t have a coach. “This is something that I did not experience, but is it extremely relevant to the person who is trying to plant a church for the first time,” said Cotto. “Every day the pastor has a different challenge. When you have a person to talk to about those challenges you face every day, it makes a lot of difference,” he said.

A Barnabas typically is an experienced new church planter who works within New Church Ministry’s coaching program. He or she walks alongside a new church planter, bringing love, compassion, support and understanding to the planter during the early stages of their ministry.

While Cotto was not a new church planter, he was fresh out of seminary and lacking experience when he was called to be a church pastor. “When Central called me, they said that the church wasn’t doing well and they were thinking about closing their doors,” said Cotto. “But they wanted to revive the church and give it another try,” he said. According to Cotto, Central was an established church that was founded 80 years ago, and as the demographics in the neighborhood changed, it had become an Anglo congregation surrounded by a Hispanic community. The congregation had heard that Cotto had previous experience as a youth minister at a Hispanic church. “I knew the Hispanic culture in South Florida and I was bilingual,” he said. So they called him and shared the vision with him. He willingly accepted the challenge. The church is now thriving with two worship services – one in English and one in Spanish. However, Cotto admits as a first time pastor he did make a few mistakes along the way.

Cotto now shares with other ministers his wealth of experience as a pastor in his role as a Barnabas. For about seven months, he has walked alongside three Disciples new church planters. And, because of his experience without a Barnabas, he knows the importance of having a coach, a mentor or someone who is there for you. He said, “It is a blessing to do that for other ministers. What I am doing is trying to respond to their needs.”

As a Barnabas, Cotto talks to the ministers he is assigned to two or three times a month. He even makes it a point to visit them, so that he can get a better understanding of their ministry. “I have visited two of the ministers and spent time with them, their church leaders and families,” he said. “I have plans to visit the third planter soon.”

“I walk with them, listen to them and their needs,” Cotto continued. “I make recommendations to them, and I pray with them. We cover many areas including preaching, conflicts in the church and how to handle them. The main idea is to respond to needs of each minister. That is one of the great blessings of the Barnabas, that we can help provide the necessary tools to those ministers who are in the first stage of new church planting.”
